Privacy Policy

Runemind, a HUGRUN product. Last updated: 21 June 2026. Applies to the Runemind early-access period.

Runemind is a Deaf-led sign-language production tool operated by HUGRUN Pty Ltd ("HUGRUN", "we", "us"). This policy explains what we collect when you use Runemind, why, and the control you have. We aim to disclose clearly rather than bury the sensitive parts. Questions: [email protected].

1. Account information

When you apply for early access or sign in, we collect your name, email, and the details you give us about your sign-language work (the languages you work in, experience, accreditation, and any links or samples you share). We use this to review your application, run your account, and contact you.

2. Your text and video

When you use the tools, we process the source text you paste, the videos you upload or link (for captioning and gloss-captioning), the captions we generate or transcribe, and the gloss you produce or edit. We use this to provide the tools and, as described below, to improve them.

3. Sign-movement and facial-expression data

When you record in sign-along or use the teleprompter, Runemind measures how you sign: the position of your hands and body, and your facial movement. We capture these numeric measurements, not raw video. Runemind never receives or stores your camera video or any image of you from these tools. If you press Record to keep a video for your own editing, that file is saved to your own device and is never sent to us.

Movement and facial-expression data tied to a person can be sensitive or biometric information under the Australian Privacy Act and the GDPR (Article 9). We treat it as personal information, linked to your account, and we ask for your explicit consent before you use these features. We use it to personalise the tools to how you sign and to train and improve Runemind's sign-language technology. You can withdraw consent and ask us to delete this data at any time (see section 7).

4. How learning and the community pool work

Runemind learns from your work so the tools match your own style and tone. When you save a gloss or a gloss-captioning project, it is added to your own private exemplar pool and, for the relevant language pair, to an anonymised community pool that helps the wider model for that sign language. Other users may see the source and gloss text in that pool, but not your identity. Deleting a project removes it from your workspace; the underlying language data may be retained for training unless you ask us to remove it.

Enterprise / Runemind Build customers run in confidential mode: their work is not added to the shared community pool.

5. Processing and providers

Runemind's cloud tiers use Google Gemini to generate captions and gloss. Your text and captions are sent to Google for processing under Google's terms (see Google's privacy policy). We use reputable infrastructure providers to host the service. We do not sell your personal information.

6. Where confidential work belongs

Do not upload embargoed or confidential material to the cloud tiers. If you handle sensitive client work, contact us about Runemind Build (confidential mode) before using the standard service.

7. Your rights and control

You can ask us to access, correct, or delete your personal information, including your sign-movement data and your saved work, and you can withdraw consent for the capture features. If you are in the EU/UK, you have rights under the GDPR including access, erasure, objection, and portability. To exercise any of these, email [email protected] and we will action it.

8. Changes

Runemind is in early access and evolving. We will update this policy as the service grows and will note the date above. Material changes that affect how we use your data will be communicated to early-access users.
